Abdul Abdulkerimov, the founder of Luminary Center, which was created for the children living in Khryug mountainous province of Kazakhstan, was named the winner to receive a 1 million dollar award. Jointly with the provincial administrations, Abdulkerimov is planning to open 50 more Luminary Centers across the country during the next 5 years.
Two more laureates – Boris Belyaev from the United States and Olga Zubkova from Perm, Russia - got a 100,000 award each.
“It’s an honor for me to be among the laureates of this outstanding award. True, I didn’t win the top prize, but I feel an enormous energy search and this is ultimately precious. I got to know new people and acquired new friends, and I am confident that we can launch new projects and reach new heights together,” Pakhchanian remarked.
Rybakov Prize was established in 2019 by Ekaterina and Igor Rybakov, who are the co-founders of the private philanthropic organization, the Rybakov Foundation, whose aim is providing high-quality education for everyone. It is for activists, doers, who are investing their own financial resources and know-how to reimagine and better develop new models for school community, and ultimately the global community. The award is meant to encourage the next generation of philanthropists by promoting investment in schools, teachers and educational systems.
