Green Chemistry Club comes third at Diamond Challenge 2024 local stage

Dilijan Central School recently hosted the second round of the Diamond Challenge 2024 youth entrepreneurship competition, bringing together teams that were recognized as the best, with the ten projects submitted. Ayb High School’s Green Chemistry project-based learning club also had the opportunity to present a project on which the students worked for more than eight months.

As a result, the club ranked third, coming up with the Powerfil Reduction of CO2 Emissions project that aims to reduce carbon footprint. The students offer factories and plants to employ an innovative strategy to solve the problem of carbon emissions, which are the main cause of global warming. They designed a device capable of absorbing carbon dioxide through a sorbent (a material that absorbs liquids or gases). Fixed to a flue-gas stack, the device can help reduce dangerous emissions into the atmosphere. After serving its purpose, it can be used as a building material or fertilizer.

Another good news is that one of Ayb School’s 12th-grade students, Victoria Mamyan, who is a member of the winning ElectRoads team will travel to the United States to participate in the final stage of the competition.

Proud of their achievements, we wish our students every success!
