For International Applicants

Applicants from abroad who are not fluent in Armenian participate in the admission process as defined by the school's admission procedure. Тhese applicants participate in the competition and, if accepted, continue their studies in Armenian with the other admitted students. By September 1 of the year of admissions, these candidates must be at least 13.5 years old.

Who are eligible to apply:

  • 9th graders of schools with 12-year education from abroad (only in case of basic education certificate);
  • 8th graders of schools with 11-year education who change school for the first time to apply to Ayb (only if they have a basic education certificate).

If an international applicant is going to attend school in the Republic of Armenia for the first time, they can remain in the same grade for a second year at the parents’ discretion.

As an exception in the admission procedure, all international applicants are obliged to take the Armenian language and social science exam. The "Armenian language" component of the exam is assessed in the manner described below:

  • The tasks to test language proficiency and language thinking are separated. If these are answered, the applicants are evaluated according to the points they have collected. In case of insufficient points for the Armenian language component, the applicant receives a minimum score and is allowed to the interview (if the points of all language exam components are higher than 0). The admission committee defines the minimum score when summarizing preliminary exam results.
  • Applicants provide written answers to the questions that test language thinking in one of the three languages (Armenian, Russian, English) at their discretion.

The applicants participate in the remaining examinations and interviews as defined by the admission procedure.

If requested in advance, the applicants are provided with relevant dictionaries during the entrance exams.

If the applicant gets passing marks and is admitted to the school, the contract stipulates that they take an Armenian language exam by the end of the first academic semester of the 10th grade, meeting the requirements prescribed by the school's evaluation procedure. Additional Armenian language classes can be organized only with extra financial contributions from parents outside Ayb.
